Our story begins in 2000 on the shores of Lake Temagami in Northern Canada. Katie Blake Vincent and Sarah Jones Nusken
were vacationing, with no running water or power in their cabin and found themselves passing the time playing with the kids’ art supplies. They were quite pleased with their creations and talked late into the night about how fun it might be to start a stationery business. With backgrounds in banking and human resources, their little idea meant a MAJOR career change. With the help from a third friend, Julie Renner, they formed
donovandesigns, named after the dormitory in which they all lived at the University of Kentucky.
